But I also wish the same thing on my 2012 Mac. although of course I do wish it were faster. On my Chromebook, I think for most of my basic editing (e.g., filmic RGB, denoise, contrast equalizer, color balance, lens correction, highlight reconstruction, haze removal), when using uniform masks, it does an acceptable job performance-wise. I am usually processing 16MP 12-bit RAWs. I also use darktable on my 2012 era Mac mini w/i5 and 8GB RAM. I've been using darktable for a while on an 2019 Intel i3-equipped HP x360 with 8GB RAM. I just don't want to return to the slow experience I had when running Lightroom via a Windows VM on my Linux machine, prior to switching to Darktable. Photography is only a hobby for me, with one trip a month or so outside of the current situation. I'd like to hear from those running DT using a Chromebook (or Chromebox) with 4 gigs and up, to see if it's tolerable. I just wouldn't want to downgrade that performance if I switched to a Chrome device. To be clear, I have no performance issues with my current setup. In practice though, the Linux container/virtualisation might degrade performance. I think that 8 gigs of RAM on a modern Chrome device should result in a faster experience than my Ubuntu machine. As my small gaming itch can be scratched with Stadia, running Darktable is the final thing I'd need to be able to switch back to Chrome OS full time. I currently use a roughly 5-year old Linux laptop with 8 gigs of RAM, Intel graphics and an i5-6200U. Is anyone happy with the performance? Specifically, using Google's implementation of Linux app support, rather than Crouton. I've seen a bit about this on other threads, but nothing huge.
